Kindergarten is a very important step in a child's education. Apart from preparing children academically, the emotional and social development may be the most important aspect of the Kindergarten program.

Language Arts

Reading
      . Phonemic awareness.
      . Identify sound.
      . Understand and apply the alphabetic principle.
      . Recognize small number (about 20) of frequently encountered words in print.
Concept of Print
      . Understand that print conveys meaning.
      . Understand how print is organized.
      . Gain alphabet recognition.
Vocabulary
      . Know the meaning of words encountered frequently in the classroom.
Writing

      . Introduced
to D'Nealian uppercase and lowercase letters.
      . Begin to form words phonetically.

Mathematics

The Kindergarten Mathematics curriculum successfully develops and extends mathematical thinking. Stories, games, and center activities teach the students basic Math understanding.
      . Position and sorting.
      . Numbers through 50.
      . Measurement.
      . Time and money.
      . Reading and understanding addition and subtraction.

Science

The Kindergarten Science Curriculum concentrates on the concept in the Physical, Life and Earth Science based on the Michigan Goals and Objectives.

Social Studies

The Kindergarten Social Studies Curriculum orients students towards becoming part of a society by focusing on themselves and others as members of a school community.
