The fifth grade Science curriculum concentrates on the concepts in the physical and earth sciences based on the Michigan Goals and Objectives.

· Physical Science / Chemistry and Physics
· Earth and Space Science / Geology and Earth Science

The fifth grade studies plants, the solar system, energy, work, machines, populations and ecosystems, the solid earth, light and sound, and body movement and control. Instruction is based upon the Constructivist Learning model in which students are encouraged to, using hands-on activities and scientific method, construct connections and create meaning in the world around them.
