| Students learn a foreign language best when
they are provided opportunities to use the foreign language to communicate
in a wide range of activities. In Grades Five through Eight foreign
language students:
- Engage in conversations, provide and
obtain information, express feelings and
emotions, and exchange opinions
- Understand and interpret written and
spoken language
on a variety of topics
- Present information, concepts, and
ideas to an audience of listeners or
readers on a variety of topics
- Demonstrate an understanding of the
relationship between practices (what to
do when and where), products (art,
work, cathedral, bread), and
perspectives (ideas, attitudes, values) of
the foreign cultures
studied.
