Our foreign language immersion program is based on the educational philosophy that learning a language is intimately linked to getting acquainted with the culture of the said language. Children not only grow and mature in foreign language surroundings, but repetitively experience language situations where they will progressively and implicitly feel the need to express themselves in the target language. This so-called immersion method allows children to explore language learning through culture.

Oral expression gives children a sense of satisfaction and achievement. It is a routine, for example, to start a Monday morning with a summary of activities done during the weekend. In so doing, students get a chance to share their feelings in the target language and at the same time improve their listening skills.

Cultural activities range from games based on the culture of the target language, to ethnic cooking activities, watching movies and videos, learning poems and songs, and participating in stage performances. Children are also continuously presented with foreign language reading material. Under the direction of native speaking language instructors, students practice reading as well as writing and test their comprehension in individual and group settings. As they feel more comfortable with the target language, they are being introduced to grammatical concepts.

Elementary Grades 1 - 4
The curriculum for the Elementary Grades One through Four is designed to build upon existing knowledge and develop a better understanding of language structure and grammar, including:
      • Vocabulary developme•nt and usage
      • Pronunciation and spelling
      • Sentence structure
      • Meaning and usage of cases, tenses, etc
Students learn a foreign language best when they are provided with opportunities to use the foreign language to communicate in a wide range of activities

Middle School Grades 5 - 8
In Grades Five through Eight foreign language students:
      • Engage in conversations, provide and obtain information, express feelings and emotions, and          exchange opinions.
      • Understand and interpret written and spoken language on a variety of topics.
      • Present information, concepts, and ideas to an audience of listeners or readers on a variety of topics.
      • Demonstrate an understanding of the relationship between practices (what to do when and where),          products (art work, clothing, food items, etc.), and perspectives (ideas, attitudes, values) of foreign          cultures studied.
